About
Hi, I'm Kim, the owner behind Oakwood Knits!
I've been knitting for over 15(!) years, however it was only during the pandemic, adjusting to being a new mom, and working a full time job that I started knitting seriously in order to find a source of calm during hectic days. I began experimenting with my own designs in 2021, and also became slightly obsessed with knitting socks. I have since released about 20 knitting patterns (most of them socks!).
In 2023 I was laid off my job and decided it was time to take a break from a dozen+ year career in tech due to burnout. I learned how to dye yarn, and opened my yarn shop online. Dyeing yarn has since become a source of recovery and expression of creativity for me. I studied studio art & art history in college, and I have always loved the act of creating even though it took a backseat for a few years. While I think we are so fortunate to live in this age of technology where new things become possible every day, there is nothing that can replace the joyful feeling of making something tangible by hand. Every skein of yarn is hand-dyed with care and joy, and I hope it will bring you joy to knit/crochet/weave with it!
