Policies & FAQ

Do you offer an Inclusivity Discount?

Yes! I offer an Inclusivity Discount (also known as an AntiFat Tax Discount) for plus-sized customers purchasing a sweater quantity of 7+ skeins of yarn to make a garment. Use coupon code Sweater at checkout to receive 10% off your order when buying 7 or more full size skeins.

The discount applies to all 100g full skeins (or 50g for Suri). Sock sets, mini sets, sale items, and patterns are not eligible, and it cannot be combined with any other discount. Bases and colorways can be mixed and matched. This discount is intended to be used by those who consider themselves to be plus-sized AND are buying yarn to make a plus-sized size garment, in order to make the costs of a handmade garment more fair. Please respect the spirit and intention of this discount by using only if both of these apply to you, so that I can continue to offer it. Please do not use if you are making an oversized but not plus-sized garment, for other types of projects such as blankets, or for buying yarn for multiple projects that are not plus-sized garments.

How do I care for my yarn?

I recommend hand washing your yarn in cool water with a bit of wool wash and laying flat to dry. All effort has been taken to fully rinse excess dye particles from the skeins after dye has been set. Slight bleeding may still occur when washing. Make sure to avoid hot water to reduce the risk of color bleeding. Deep reds and blues, as well as highly saturated colors, are more likely to bleed. Non-superwash is more likely to bleed than superwash. If using multiple colorways in a project, such as for colorwork, I recommend steam blocking rather than a full wet block.

What is your shipping policy?

I ship internationally from California. I currently ship everywhere except the U.K. International orders may be subject to VAT or import duties to be paid by the customer upon receipt of your order. Before ordering, please check your country's rates and policies to avoid any surprises! I offer free U.S. shipping on yarn orders over $300.

All pre-order items will have a pre-order window included as part of the product listing before the item is shipped. I will do my best to ship orders within that window. Any in-stock items that are purchased will ship in 3 - 5 business days. If your order contains both an in-stock item and a pre-order item, your order will ship when all your items are ready to go. Once you receive a shipping notification, it may take an additional day or two for your order to be taken to the post office.

Mail delays can sometimes occur. Please contact USPS (usps.com) or your local post office to ask about any packages that haven’t been received, or file a missing mail request. I will also do my best to look into this should this happen, however I am not responsible for lost or delayed packages.

If something comes up once your order has been placed but not shipped, such as you need to change the address or want to combine orders, please contact me at oakwood.knits@gmail.com (please include the order number!)

Do you accept returns?

I want you to be happy with your yarn as much as I loved making it! If you are unhappy once you've received your yarn, please first email me at oakwood.knits@gmail.com within 5 days of receiving it, and I will do everything I can to make the issue right! I can only offer returns if I've made an error with the yarn or your order. If I've made an error and a return is the only option, the yarn needs to be returned in its original condition - unused, skeined, and labeled. Please do not send items back without first contacting me, as I will not be able to accept them or refund them. All pre-order sales are final and not refundable. Due to the nature of digital knitting patterns, I cannot offer refunds. I also cannot offer exchanges at this time.
