Digital knitting pattern (pdf download) - this product listing is for a pdf pattern you can use to knit your own finished item with. It does not include the physical item itself.

Featuring an all-over and easy-to-memorize slip stitch pattern, these socks work up fast and are a perfect match for a special skein of variegated yarn. The texture also gives these socks a squishy fabric for extra coziness over the cold months. You can knit the socks as shown with contrast stripes on the cuff and leg, or use a single color for a unified look. The gusset is worked on the bottom of the foot, instead of the sides, so that the texture pattern can continue cleanly down the sides of the foot.

Testers described this pattern as suitable for an advanced beginner who is comfortable working with textures, and that the pattern was easy to follow and texture stitch easy to memorize. They also commented that the sole gusset hugs the heel very well compared to a side gusset and helps the sock stay in place.

This pattern is also available on Ravelry.

Construction

These socks are knit cuff-down starting with a 2x1 ribbed cuff followed by the texture pattern around the leg with alternating contrast stripes. The texture continues onto the heel flap, the heel is turned, and the gusset is worked on the bottom of the foot. The foot is worked with the texture pattern on the instep and the sole in stockinette, and finally the toe is grafted closed.

Note that by the time you reach the foot and toe, you will need to be able to follow "work in pattern" instructions.
